September 2015

The month of September was a very exciting month in our classroom. We met our new classmates and began learning tons of new things. There were five people that had a birthday, Cole, Sydney, Kree, Faith, and Alex.

We learned a lot in Math. We learned how to add four-digit numbers and multiply. We also learned expanded notation and rounding in Math. Two people in our class got in U.I.L. Math! We learned how to subtract four-digit numbers and how to count money.

We LOVE math!

Great Start To The School Year!

This has been a fantastic start to the 2015-2016 school year! The students have been working extremely hard everyday, reviewing and learning new material. We journal about our learning experiences weekly, and then use that material to summarize our month. A team of students will be selected as the Spotlight Authors for the month. I'm so excited about the amazing things our children our doing! Thank you for sharing them with me!

Past Two Weeks

The past two weeks have been great! On red ribbon week we got to wear sun glasses, hats, and mustaches. The mustaches were the funniest. The third grade teachers even wore them! We started learning division, and we like division because you separate numbers into equal groups. My friend and I go with Mrs.Williams to scan and make qr codes. This week we got progress reports, and we both did good.

Interesting Things

We have learned a bunch of interesting things this week! Our class is still learning about multiplication. This week we started earning ice cream cone parts for learning out facts. We will get ice cream when we learn them all!
We both love science! We learned about the water cycle and got to stand up and sing a song. In reading, our class talked about main idea. Main idea is what the story is mainly about. This was easy to us.
A great thing that happened was we earned links for our classroom because Mr. Stark said our class was very good at lunch!

Not Scared

The Wildcats are coming Friday, and we have a treat for him! The wildcats are going to win! We have been good this week. Thursday was picture day. We learned to multiply by eight. We reviewed our spelling words using jumping jacks while spelling them. Our teacher is nice. She is the best teacher ever!

We both have five friends, and we both like to play football at recess. We wrote this blog to entertain y'all. We love our school, and we love our teacher. We love to come up with new ideas, and we were not scared to write this blog!

A Fun Week!

This week was a fun week, and then it got serious. Our teacher can't talk (she's better now) and we've started harder work. We're learning multiplication. We've already learned the 0's, 1's, 2's,  and 5's. This week we're learning groups of three and four.  We are also learning about mixtures and solutions in science. We got to make a mixture of Cheese Nips and pretzels for a snack. We made a solution of pink lemonade. We got to eat and drink our mixtures and solution while we worked. So far, 3rd grade has been easy!

Welcome to our Blog!

Welcome to another awesome year at Kirbyville Elementary! I am very excited about sharing this year with you. As a 3rd grade student, your child will be learning new and interesting information. We will learn together by discovery and exploration.  In order to help our students develop the necessary skills to be successful in our technology based world, we will be integrating writing and technology into our classroom.
Elliott’s Wildcat Wonders is a weblog (Blog) that will be written primarily by the students, giving them ownership in their learning. Each week, a “Spotlight” team will be assigned to prepare our BLOG for the week. I encourage you to support our classroom by sharing the BLOG address with family & friends!
I am looking forward to this opportunity to see our students develop confidence and blossom.
